Structural Rehabilitation & Transfer of Reefer Gantry at Pier 15

Asian Terminals Incorporated awarded First Balfour a pile retrofitting job at Pier 15 in South Harbor, Manila. The challenge was to complete the retrofitting job under the pier without hampering its operation. The works covered the cleaning and cutting of existing corroded steel piles; chipping of existing encased concrete; supply, fabrication and installation of reinforcing bars; installation of forms and concrete placement of exposed portion of 325 units of existing steel piles. The length of retrofitted piles ranges from 1.5M to 2.8M and was carried out in pre-planned sequence per group of piles using specialist workers who worked under the pier using boats and fabricated flatforms. The work was completed without accident with the strict compliance to First Balfour's Safety and Health program.
